While feeding this morning, Tessa was a handful. She kept diving off the feed truck and blasting toward any cow that came close. She then attacked Isabella again, Tom and Mary's Heeler cross, while we were loading hay.
Then later in the day when we tagged our third calf of the year she was a spitfire again. Not lisening and leaving her spot where she was supposed to lie down.
She's an intense herding dog, which I love and want to encourage. Her pent up energy was as much my fault. We've been so busy lately I have not worked her like I want. So we spent a lot of time working this afternoon. You can see her progression of work in several videos below.
Starts with quick, barking....too fast.
My wife and I are happy to be a part of the family farm. I've always enjoyed the loyalty and companionship from good dogs and have taken up the training of herding dogs the past few years. I learn so much from the Australian Shepherds I've been with, and hope they enjoy their time with us as much as we love them.
