Four eggs today. Not too bad in the winter with all the chickens molting. But not as good as it can be when you've got 16 laying hens.
We're looking at swapping hens out this year and are starting the decision process on what breeds. We've had a few Rhode Island Reds, Buffs, Black Astrolorps, Ameracauna's, little Banti's, Wellsummers and Marons.
We'll probably end up with a mixture of breeds again. We like the variety of egg colors and personailities. But the mix of breeds will definitely be different based on what we've observed the past few years.
Lorin and I have been around agriculture our whole lives. We're happy to be part of the family farm.
